Smith’s spectacular innings of 88 runs from just 52 balls set the stage ablaze, leading the Washington Freedom to an imposing total of 207-5. The bowlers followed suit, restricting the Unicorns to a mere 111 runs, thus sealing the championship.
Despite an early setback with Travis Head’s dismissal, the Freedom didn’t lose their momentum. A relentless partnership between Smith and Glenn Maxwell, coupled with quick runs from Mukhtar Ahmed and Obus Pienaar, pushed the team past the 200-mark.
