Rohit Sharma, the captain of Team India, recently led his team to an unprecedented victory at the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados, making history as the first team to remain undefeated throughout the tournament.
During a promotional event for his upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine, in which he stars alongside Ryan Reynolds, Australian actor and cricket enthusiast Hugh Jackman was asked about his favorite Indian cricketer.
Jackman, who will reprising his role as Wolverine in the upcoming X-Men and Marvel film, named none other than Rohit Sharma, also known as the “Hitman” for his aggressive batting style, as his favorite cricketer.
YouTube personalities Dhruv and Shyam, also known as “Funcho,” with a following of nearly 4 million subscribers, interviewed Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds ahead of the Deadpool 3 release. When asked who his favorite Indian cricketer was, Jackman enthusiastically replied, “Right now? Rohit [Sharma]. You took the World Cup home! I’m glad. But honestly, he was a titan!”
American actor Ryan Reynolds, who plays the lead role in Deadpool 3, was taken aback by the enthusiastic response to Jackman’s answer, exclaiming, “This is amazing!”
The victorious Team India celebrated their World Cup win with a parade in Mumbai, where throngs of fans lined the streets and the Wankhede Stadium, receiving a 125 Cr cheque from the BCCI.
The ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ film starring Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds and directed by Shawn Levy is due to hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
